Today was the 38 week appointment. This was my LAST appointment! The baby will be born on Monday! They did another ultrasound today. All looks well. We saw the diaphragm moving up and down so that was reassuring. She made sure to tell us the baby's stomach is in the correct place. The heart looked good. The baby has a beautiful face as you can see! Heart rate was 128. My fluid level looks great--well within normal range. The doctor told me that if I had uncontrolled gestational diabetes, the fluid number would be much higher so it was nice to get a pat on the back for keeping the gest. diabetes under control! Today I saw a different doctor than my primary, but I like her. She felt my stomach. She guesses the baby will be
8 pounds 4 oz. I think it will be at LEAST 9 pounds, which is fine. I think bigger babies sleep a little better. Will did at least! We are full of anticipation and hope for our new arrival. The air is a little lighter this year than it was last year at this same time. It's a little easier to take a pregnancy when you aren't given a 50% chance that your child will die. However, in losing Sylvia, we opened ourselves up to the reality that death CAN hit our immediate family. It CAN take our precious baby. We know that precious angel is watching over her siblings. I think she'll be this baby's angelic mother hen much like Julie was mine when I was little and Lynda was during my college years :) I don't know if I'll get a chance to post again before the baby comes, but stay tuned. We'll defintely post at some point after the baby is born.
Will seems to just know that his world will be changing. He's been a bear lately. He's woken in the night a couple nights this week. He's giving me the cold shoulder lately, but adores his daddy. Tonight he says his ear hurts. We'll see how he feels tomorrow. Tomorrow he'll have a special morning with mommy. He's getting his hair cut at 8:30am then we need to run to Sunnycrest for a couple things I forgot. I think I have everything in order there for my leave, but I'm sure I forgot something. Now to get the house in order before my parents and the baby arrive! Thank you for all your support througout this journey. We appreciate it ever so much! It feels to me like this pregnancy has flown by. Make any last minute guesses as to the sex of the baby on the poll on the right of this blog. The poll ends at 12am Monday. I can't wait to find out what this special blessing is--a girl or a boy. Will thinks girl. Andy thinks boy. I'm not sure. None of us really care though! We just want a healthy living baby!
Much love to you all,
Beth, Andy, Will, ^Sylvi^ and ?

ReplyDeleteChris and I have you in our prayers. We have thought of you many times in the last few weeks and said a prayer for you with Nathan tonight before he went to bed and Chris left for work. We are so so so excited for you and cannot wait to hear if you have a boy or a girl. (I think a boy!) Good luck!
