WELCOME TO OUR WORLD!!!

Welcome to our journey of love, living in the face of loss and just plain living. We've experienced the greatest loss a parent can face--the loss our our baby daughter, Sylvia. She flew to Heaven due to complications of congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) on 2/26/09. We have two "Earth Angel" children, Will and Stella. They have been a great help on this journey. We live a blessed rich life in spite of our loss. We are lucky to be parents to such special children. They are our life. Welcome to our life!

32 Week ultrasound

It went well! Baby is looking great! He/she weighs about 4 pounds 9 oz. at 32 weeks 2 days gestation. The anatomy looks great! The doctor said that everything SHOULD be okay--that if there was something wrong with the anatomy, it should have been caught via ultrasound by now. My amniotic fluid is on the high side, but still within normal ranges. Thus far I don't have polyhydramnios (high amniontic fluid--over 25 cm.) At the 32 week ultrasound with Sylvia is when I found out she possibly had CDH (1/9/09). My amniotic fluid at this point with Sylvia was 32. I think my highest fluid level with her was 35. So, 21 looks great! We got a cute 3-D image, but it isn't the clearest so I won't post it. And NO we did NOT find out the sex although I swear the sonographer said "HER numbers look great." Andy didn't hear this though so maybe it was just me. In Iowa City, our wonderful sonographer, Glenda, calls ALL babies "he." Maybe this lady calls them all "she!" We don't care at all. We'll take whatever. We just want a healthy living baby that far outlives both of its parents. Another ton of bricks has been lifted off my back. But, ALL the bricks don't come off until this baby is in my arms living--unattached to tubes. That is when I hope I'll truly believe it's okay... I can't wait to hold this baby. I'm not letting go this time!
